1986 - 1989 Toyota 4-Runner 4WDSelect a lift height for more information...4" Lift System Front lift is achieved by lowering the lower control arms via one-piece crossmember assemblies. The upper control arms must remain in their factory location since they attach to the torsion bars which cannot be relocated. New precision cast knuckles bridge the increased distance between the upper and lower control arms. The front differential housing is lowered to keep CV axle angles in check. An optional front skid plate, available in mild steel or brushed stainless steel with our "flame" logo, protects the front differential and steering. Optional crossmember-to-frame kicker braces, recommended for the hard-core off-roader, are also offered.

More Information
In 1986 Toyota replaced the solid front axle / leaf spring design with independent front suspension supported by torsion bars. What makes its design somewhat unique is that the torsion bars run along the top of the frame rails.

All trucks have rear leaf springs; lift methods include blocks, add-a-leafs, and in most cases, Superide replacement leaf springs. The 4-Runner sports rear coil springs with a four-link arrangement. 4-Runner rear lift is set at 4" and consists of new coils plus all bracketry needed to properly reposition the entire 4-link system. Note: The 4" to 5" front lift height range is determined by torsion bar adjustment.
