8" Lift System (Gas)

 

Front Lift

In order to obtain the amount of caster correction required for 8" of lift, both Caster Brackets and radius arm lowering brackets (4" drop) are utilized. Lowering the radius arms 8" - the amount required if Caster Brackets were not used - would overly stress the frame rails in addition to appearing goofy. Note that when our 4-Link Conversion is used, the Caster Brackets included with the 8" system are not installed. Other components included with the 8" system are: diesel / gas specific coil springs, front compression travel-stop relocation brackets, track bar relocation bracket, dropped pitman arm, front anti-sway bar extensions, and a steering stabilizer bracket. Shock options include: Superlift Superide, Superide Select Series by Bilstein (SS), or Superide Select Series Reservoir (SSR) Shocks. 

Why are we talking so much about caster angle?

It's simple, the new Ford Super Duty suspension is very sensitive to caster angle change. As the truck is lifted, the frame mounted radius arms cause the front axle to rotate, resulting in less caster angle. Incorrect caster angle makes the truck more difficult to steer, since the truck's normal tendency to self-center is reduced. Incorrect caster can also induce steering shimmy. One more point that emphasizes the importance of correct caster angle and steering geometry in general... as a truck is loaded, by adding cargo or trailer tongue weight, caster is lost as the vehicle's rear ride height drops. When hauling or towing, drivability is even more important.

Rear Lift

The standard rear lift method utilizes a block and add-a-leaf combination. When using the optional replacement rear leaf springs, Superlift incorporates our unique heavy-duty rear compression travel control and load assist system. Offered only by Superlift, the system utilizes specially designed hollow rubber cushions that improve ride quality and load control when hauling or towing

 4-Link Conversion Upgrade

Superlift's 4-link upgrade system offers real advantages over Ford's radius arm approach. The 4-link experiences less caster change as the suspension cycles yielding more stable steering and handling traits in all terrain types, on-road or off. Secondly, our adjustable Rockrunner lower links allow infinite caster adjustment; this is especially beneficial for the truck owner that hauls or tows since additional caster improves towing and/or loaded "steering feel" (caster is lost as the rear squats from being loaded). Also, the 4-link generates less bind as the suspension travels which improves ride quality.

  1. Fixed length upper links made of 2" OD x .188" wall thickness DOM tubing and .25" steel plate. Greasable, high density Urethane eye bushings deform less under load which improves control.
  2. Rockrunner Series lower links swivel to allow bind-free operation, and their length can be set for infinite caster adjustment. Made of 2" OD x .188" wall thickness DOM tubing and .25" steel plate. Greasable, high-density Urethane eye bushings deform less under load and improve control.
  3. New 4-link arm bracket attaches to existing radius arm bracket which is riveted to the truck frame.
  4. Factory steel-encased rubber bushings retained at link-to-axle mounting points to reduce vibration and shock transfer. Urethane upper eye bushings and factory lower bushings form the perfect combination.
  5. Shown with optional dual shock hoop and Superide SSR series shocks. Superide Standard series shocks and SS series by Bilstein also available.

Application Notes

  • Superlift load-assist system included in rear spring kit box.
  • Dually applications may require different u-bolts. Measure stock u-bolts and refer to u-bolt specification chart to order correct u-bolts.
