1997 - 2003 Ford 1/2-ton F-150 Pickup 4WDOverviewThis generation of Fords features torsion bar front suspension. Compared to the TTB / coil spring suspension it replaced, the torsion bar set-up offerd improve ride quality, more stable and predictable steering “feel” and less camber change when towing or hauling loads. Superlift's replacement knuckle system provides 4" to 5" of front lift and 3" of rear lift while retaining the truck's excellent driveability traits. More InformationIn 1997 Ford scrapped the Twin Traction Beam front axle in favor of torsion bars with upper and lower control arms, similar to what General Motors uses on their 1988 and newer full-size trucks. When comparing this design to Ford’s old TTB, the primary benefits of torsion bars are an improved ride, a more stable and predictable steering “feel” and less camber change when towing or hauling loads. When you add it up, the bottom line is considerably improved driveability. Superlift’s lift method keeps the F-150’s good driveability traits intact, plus it increases front wheel travel by 20%. |
