1995 - 2004 Toyota Tacoma Pickup Prerunner (after mid-1995) 4WDOverview The newest Toyotas still utilize upper and lower control arms. But with the introduction of the Tacoma in 1995, Toyota replaced the torsion bars used on the previous generation trucks with coil-over struts. Ride quality improved substantially, but for many the ride is too spongy for off-road use. Superlift's lift method utilizes a machined aluminum pre-load ring that mounts in between the coil and the shock. The pre-load ring increases ride height while eliminating the spongy ride characteristics to make a simple, economical lift system. The Tacoma and 4-Runner yield approximately 2.5" of lift, while the Tundra and Sequoia yield about 2" of lift to level the truck's stance.
